Production company
research
Film4
Productions: Trainspotting, The Riot Club, The Selfish Giant
and This is England
Film4 is a British film production company that is owned by
channel 4, the company is known for the gritty films it produces and period
dramas, I feel as though this would be the most suitable company to use as out
film openings genre has the same realistic gritty feel that the company is
known for.
Warp Films
Productions: Submarine, This is England, Tyrannosaur and Snowtown
Although this company is also British and independent I feel
as though the films it produces are not similar in genre to our chose social realism
direction. Although they have produced an urban drama and other drama films I feel
as though our film would not appropriately fit with the other produced by the
company.
Cloud Eight filmsProductions: 127 Hours, Trance, Trainspotting 2 and Steve Jobs
This is the least appropriate company out of all the ones referenced,
although it is producing the new Trainspotting sequel this is only due to the companies
close partnership with Danny Boyle, the director of the two films.
BBC Films
Productions: Brighton Rock, A Long Way Down, X+Y and The
Sense of an Ending
This would be an appropriate choice for our production
company as they are a known British company and have a direct focus on individual
films. This is only opposed by the general commercial aspect of the company, by
being so well know the film opening could lose its honest tone.
IFC Films
Productions: Fish Tank, Undocumented, Fury and The Riot Club
This company seems to have a primary focus on horror films,
although producing on of our main inspiration sources Fish Tank the company has
several horror films also produced by the company, this could give viewers the
wrong idea if the affiliate the company with horror films.
Out of all the companies I have researched Film4 is the most
appropriate for our chosen genre, the company has produced several successful
films in the past yet it also focuses primarily on individual films and
productions.
